Who we are
GF Finder is a small app for finding gluten-free restaurants and dishes, run by Kevin Arnold in Ontario, Canada. Questions or requests: [contact email].
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, a password (stored scrambled; nobody can read it), and the name you choose for your reviews.
- Things you add: restaurants, dishes, photos, and reviews. These are shared with other signed-in users. Reviews show your chosen name.
- Your visit log: dates, what you ate, whether you felt safe, whether you got sick, a rating and notes. Because "got sick" is health information, we ask for your consent before storing it.
- Activity records: who added or last edited a restaurant or dish, and delete requests, so the community information can be kept accurate.
- When you agreed: the date you accepted these terms and gave consent for visit information.
Who can see your visit log
- Only you can see your individual visits in the app.
- Other people only see combined totals for a restaurant (for example "6 visits, nobody got sick"), never who visited or who got sick.
- App administrators can access visit data for moderation and to produce combined statistics.
Your location
If you allow it, your phone's location is used on your device to centre the map and to work out distances in search. It is sent with a search only to calculate distance, and it is not stored.
Services we use
- Supabase - stores the database, logins and photos (server region: Canada (Central), ca-central-1).
- Cloudflare - hosts the app.
- OpenStreetMap - map images, address search and the restaurant "Look it up" feature. The text you type into those searches, and the general map area you're looking at, are sent to OpenStreetMap.
We do not sell your information, show ads, or share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
We keep your information until you delete it or delete your account.
Your choices and rights
- Edit or delete your reviews and visits at any time.
- Delete your account in the app (Account → Delete my account). This permanently removes your account, reviews and visit history. Restaurants and dishes you added stay for others, without your name.
- Ask us what information we hold about you, or to correct it, by emailing [contact email].
Children
GF Finder is not intended for children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes in an important way, the app will ask you to review and accept it again.
